soap box cars

when you say angle the wheels in do you mean at the top (camber) or front to rear (toe in)?

I think I mean camber, when you look at it from the front the wheel is not perpendicular to the road surface, the top of the wheel leans inward.
Think bikes wheels as they are designed for leaning into corners. I f the wheel does not lean the rim recieves lots of sidways force which can buckle the wheel. Cars have small diameter strong wheels that can take sideways force but bike wheels are lightweight and resist sideways force by moving toward a sideways plain by leaning into corners.

Look at sports wheelchairs or the from wheels of tadpole style recumbent trikes.

I'm not an engineer and thus I'm rubbish at techy explanations
