and your mate says "I'll sort you out with a bike, leave it with me.."
Now, the fact that he has been known to frequent this site should have had me worried. :? :?
"It might have to rigid" he said.
So, picture the scene, I pick him up at 8.30 this morning, and out he brings my bike-for-the-day. Now bear in mind, I'm used to a Ti hardtail, 100mm of travel at the front, disc brakes, riser bars etc. Out comes the retro rigid Orange C16R (still to confirmed, might be a Clockwork  ). I was a little worried, but, it was a whole heap of fun. only 14 gears to choose from (as it wouldn't shift onto granny ring), canti brakes, it certainly made the "usual" trip a bit more entertaining. It was very similar to the bike I rode BITD, how the hell did I manage????
It was nice having to really pick your line, and to take your time and savour the technical sections of the trail. I won't miss the arm pump though trying to stop with cantis
It has made me think though, I miss bar ends. Once "my" bike is back from repair I'll be ditching the risers and going back to flats with bar ends.
Oh, cheers Sithlord, at least I could get out
