So who has made snow tyres?

Made some in the past using M3 nuts/bolts. Worked fine but took an age to make.

Like the pop rivet idea, good if they're stainless ones.

I'm using Schwalbe Ice Spikers: Possibly one of the best bike buys i've ever made, (I bike to work everyday - no car).

nice one, the kenda blue looks like a similar method I had in mind.

I was planning to go down the screw from the inside route then cover the head with a blob of evostick and stick a patch of old inner tube over the top of each and run a second old inner tube as a tube liner.
