Anyone had a go yet? thinking of trying to make some tomorrow. Old tyre/screws/ductape/old innertube.

i started got the first load of pop rivets into the nobbies but got bored and stopped wish i might finish them tomorrow after looking outside 8)

I have a pair of nokian studded tyres coming in from sithlord[he bought them from me originally, now im having them back

Looking at how they set the stud in there, there seems to be a steel collar that goes on the outside but buried in the rubber and something not akin to a pop rivet through the middle from inside the casing.

CK has the right idea i think.

m6 roofing bolts
a 6m drill
fit the nut on the outside
and fit snake charmers or another slick tyre inside the bolted one
work a treat

or use panaracer cinders

Try button headed allan bolts and nylock nuts. Drill hole through tyre between a knobble, put the bolt through from the inside and secure with the nylock on the outside. The nylock nut or any nut becomes the stud but will not cut you if the tyre hits you. Best put the nuts along the tyre edges, if you put in the centre it will mess with your handling. The button headed bolts are less likely to cut into the inner tube.

I have not made any yet as I know that the snow will vanish overnight if I try it. Further I can ride in snow so dont really need them :D

i made some years ago, never used them tho, and even bought Mr Tuffy tire liners, i remeber seeing a similar set in MBUK.

for those running discs, has anyone thought of using chains?
Same type that are on cars.

i did think about it but the weight would make the front wheel a little unstable and if it got loss could damage the rim and frame but a god idea though :D
