A few years ago, I rode to the top of Mt. Tam with a friend. At the top he got a puncture, even though he had Slime in the tube. He said, "No Worries, I've got a patch kit". Well, the patch refused to stick to the tube because of the Slime oozing out the rather large hole in it. I ended up giving him my spare tube to get home on. At the time, I was already riding Tubeless tires on my MTB, and I still haven't gotten a flat with them! Also, contrary to what Grahame says earlier on this thread, the 2.2 Continental All Mountain Tubeless tires I am running weigh 650 grams each plus 28 grams of Stan's Sealant=678grams--which compares favorably to a 540 gram Smoke with a 180 gram tube=720 grams.
