So after piss-poor checking, I recently delaced a wheel and started relacing it to a better hub, then realised I'd always assumed, wrongly, the wheel was 32h.
So now I've got to rebuild both wheels, front and rear, rather than just rebuilding the front (rear is currently 32h, front is currently 36h).
Rear is currently on a black LX hub (563 / 565?), front was STX, but is going to be an LX hub.
I've got 2 new rear hubs - both 590s - one silver, one black. As these wheels (Mavic 230s) would originally have been on black LX hubs, I was going to use the black 590 rear hub to rebuild the 36h 230, and rebuild the current rear rim onto a 32h front hub.
I've got several new LX-ish front hubs, the only one that's in anyway dark or near black, is a 570, which is more of a dark blue / grey colour, rather than black.
The wheels are just going to go back onto my 95 Apex (that's in generally fine fettle, nearly everything is stock, and in good nick) - so it's not like some prima-donna of a bike that needs anything to be absolutely perfect - but would the slight mismatch in hubs, and colours grate on you, or would you just let it ride.
My thoughts are black 590 hubs aren't terribly expensive, but I've already got more than enough hubs for all the wheels I want to build, the only reason I'd be buying another black 590 front hub, would be simply because 570 hubs had more of a blue colour about them, and as it's just a normal bike and basically service and restore of the bike, it doesn't need obsessing over.
What would you do, though?
