during my search for some blue ano bits for a build i am doing, I have come across some reasonably priced skewers, crank & chainring bolts that i like the look of. I don't need (and to an extent can't afford) hope or similar quality skewers and the marginal weight isn't a problem but i was a tad concerned about the safety aspect of them.

are they as safe as (for example) a shimano skewer?
re: the bolts, are they likely to be made of cheap alloy and just round off when i try to tighten them??

here is what i was looking at.....

chainring bolts - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Blue-alloy-ch...bikeparts_SR&hash=item51936f5ecb#ht_500wt_928
crank boltshttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/M8-Crank-Bolt...bikeparts_SR&hash=item5190533e9d#ht_500wt_928

the skewers in question are the imported from taiwan / hong kong types. could someone advise if these are worth buying / worth avoiding. the bike in question is never going to be doing much off road work, it is being built as a road going MTB that will just be doing the odd day on trails / forest tracks when i fancy a change from the orange

if what i'm looking at is complete and utter tat - can you guys recommend something that is good quality but not gonna break the bank.

thanks.

EDIT: - just looking on CRC at the brandX stuff. is this worth buying??

Cheap alloy bolts tend to creak and round off as there softer ...as for the crank extracting blots i would avoid like rabies .....i bought some and had major drama and had to cannnondale king had to drill , saw , bash them out as the head rounded .

I have the red and some of the gold skewers and although a little heavy they do seem pretty solid !

Just my opinion , hope it helps .
