Sir Andy Murray Is Back!

Re:

Some choose quiet admiration, or even, gulp, going to see their heroes of the sport they follow.

Maybe your glowing admiration would be better placed in a tennis forum, as you feel so strongly about my namesake, that you have kept this thread going since June 2011!

Even longer than one of History Man's build threads! Surely a feat in itself!

You trying to start a fight with everyone?

I like to think of my build threads as conversational, even if only with myself.

Got a bike that fits yet? (Blows raspberry, thumbs nose :) )

Re: Andy Murray World Number One!

For ANY sports person to become top of their profession is some achievement love them or hate them. Personally I'm a fan of Lewis Hamilton...

Yes thanks, with a road bike project on the way, and maybe a really nice mtb, too. Fingers crossed.

Phantom raspberry blower, of olde London town?

Re: Andy Murray World Number One!

Well Murray is still number one, however short that may last!

I sincerely hope tennis does not succumb to the same scourge that is seemingly constant in cycling.

Seems hard to imagine any high pressure, super high earning sport that is going to be free of attempts to seek advantage by foul means..

The best approach is perhaps to retire and avoid the scrutiny.

Re: Andy Murray World Number One!

He's defending an awful lot of points from the second half of last year, and the others around him aren't.
With his injury now and those points to defend, I think he'll end the year between third and sixth!

Fed will be No1 again soon for sure.

Re:

I think Roger and Rafa are defending a lot less points than everyone else, so I reckon it will be one of those two.
I think that the way Murray plays the game will hinder him in his 30's and I can't see him competing at the very top for more than 3ish years. Would be nice for him to win the Australian open. He's been so close so many times.
There is no reason he can't compete from anywhere in the top ten though, no one will want to play him in the 4th round!
