Hullo, I have just bought an XT rear deraileur RD M737 8 speed, will this work ok with my 7 speed Orange? Or will I have to get a new 8 speed cassette as I need a new one anyway. Sorry never really understood the whole gear setup thing.

All Shimano slant parallelogram rear mechs from 1988 onwards shift 7/8/9spd without any problems whatsoever.

you just need to set you reach adjuster limit screws to suit

I just got a Tourney TY15 rear mech to work with 10 speed SRAM XX
















ok but I bet I would have a damn good go. As above, mechs are just slaves of the cable & shifter hegemony
