Sibex Ti crank with Boone & Action Tec rings

Nice crank but prone to breakage...

ibex%20f_cked.jpg

The crank uses indeed the XTR m-95x spider / lock ring
interface. I owned one of those very sets for a while.
Very nice but very flexy. Also even tough you
can use a triple chainring set up this is a road bike crank > you have to use a wide 118mm isis bottom bracket. Not ideal but it works, funny Q-factor.
Anyways I sold my crankset and the new owner
broke one of the crank arms after a year or so.
He was just riding normally no downhill etc.
The cranks are hollow and the wall thickness
is very thin > he send me a pic of the broken crank arm...
Neither him or me was especially heavy ~ 85 kg.
I was not very surprised when he contacted me
to notify me since a meanwhile discovered
quite a lot of pictures on the net of broken
Ibex titanium components - just google yourself.
So buy it if you like the looks but I would NOT
recommend to ride it.
Cheers,

Re:

£366  Anybody here snag these ? They look the nuts, nicer than the £££s CQP version and maybe even Morati but the quality control seems lacking. Shame really. Imo cranks are not best application for Ti as the main structural material.
