Show us your Kuwahara

I don't think we have a 'Show us your Kuwahara' in the 'Show us your...' so I'm going to start one. Don't see too many of these in the UK...or am I wrong - anyway, here is my 1990 Kuwahara Leopard that I have recently rebuilt/restored..... There's a 91 Tiger hiding in the shed, waiting for some appropriate forks...


I think this has the longest stem I have ever ridden..! Plus quad-butted Ishiwata tubing - it's pretty light, although I haven't weighed it. Needs dailling in as I only finished it this morning but is a nice ride.

Me too! The frame was dirty, but otherwise in great condition compared to most of my restorations. Got very lucky finding the crank and stem!!

This one has done sterling duty on RB over the years: first @legrandefromage had it as a drop bar build, then it’s been used by three of my kids for touring and general duties. It’s a bit tatty now but will be getting a refurb soon. Probably from 1987 or 88. Here’s a couple of pics before my son got hold of it ….

Ishiwata produced some amazing tubes. I have a Japanese 022 randonneur and it’s really comfortable and responsive.

The first real mountain bike I ever rode was a Kuwahara. Fantastic machine, so far beyond anything I'd ever been on before. I knew in an instant that everything had changed
