Should you use granny to run you a nice warm bath?

So you'd warm your hands up over the embers of your dead parents burning bodies ?? ok

 yeah.. because that's what using heat that's already generated is doing isn;t it

Roll your eyes as much as you like mate.. makes no odds to me

Fully agree, great idea. Why not produce electricity and feed it back into the grid?

If when my time comes my remains provide a little heat that helps someone else make it through a cold winter, I would be more than happy. By that time any of my still servicable organs will hopefully have been put to use and the little bit of fuel left behind which is going to be burned any way, may as well be put to some use.

Waste not, want not.

Your entitled to your own opinion same as me..I just think it's respectless thats all..Turning a by-product of a crematorium into heating for some nearby Leisure Centre .

been doing some research about reusing energy at uni and i think its a good idea although a bit of a taboo to say the least!

efficiency springs to mind

reserve
conserve
produce

in that order

(oh how i hate my uni group  )

yea but it's about saving the local council £14,000 a year ... they should take all the freebie luncheon vouchers away from all those in government..would save millions there...nowamsayin'

But why?

The bodies are already burnt, it's not like they are being burnt to provide pool heating is it..

It's using a resource that already exists from premises that already exist.. the process of death bed to coffin to cremation to scattering the ashes (or urn on the mantle-piece) is the same...

Now if the leisure centres (or wherever) had cremation facilities installed in their basements. . . . entirely different.

I think it makes perfect sense.

Environmentally, ecologically and financially.

And any of the people I've known, on their way out, I don't think would have been offended in the slightest.

The really enviromentally friendly way to deal with the dead would be to bury them, with a spade, in a paper bag and plant a tree on top. That's how I intend to be dealt with. ( I must write that down at some point )

Then you don't even have the cost of the fuel. Burning a corpse to cinders must use a fair amount of fuel.
