short cage m952 xtr rear mech

Martin,

Will this be okay for a standard 8 speed cassette :?

If so I'll take it please :D

PM Me payment details if all is good

Hi yes it will be fine aslong as you are running a compact crank, you may be ok if your just using a small cassete also. Reason i'm selling is I need a long cage

From looking at my current set up can you tell if it would be okay :?

Should be fine fella, that outer ring is fairly small - shortcage are usually used on 2 ring cranks but as that crank is compact i'm pretty sure it will be ok. Paypal is cool 8)

Short cage

I never ever ever use medium or long cage mechs on an MTB. They are too heavy and flap about like crazy on anything faintly bumpy.(notice the DCD :D just run a short rear mech instead and save a load of weight and improved chain eficiency) ) If you ride properly you would never go big ring to upper two cogs. Crossover will chew your chain n cogs to bits quickstyle! I generally run a 12 or 11/28 back block on 42/32/24 and this is fine. I even run roadie Dura ace or Ultegra rear mech which are way shorter than XTR no problem! Triple front chainsets are pretty much being phased out too, with bigger range 9 speed 11/32 or 34 rear blocks and 41/28 or 42/29 becoming popular. I m building a 38/28 with bash ring at the Mo. A big ring is OK for steaming on the road or smooth fire roads, but generally U would use a 34-38 front for 90 percent of riding anyway. Unless your gravity obsessed?

Kona

Just love the build on that and the XY post, desperate for one of those in 27.2. You could just do with a better chainset on it? A nice set of Turbines would look nice.
