Shimano XTR M971 9 Speed Rear Mech

Anyone know if this mech would be suitable for 8 speed?

If M971 isnt Rapid Rise (ie, the other way around) then it should be OK

Fitted a 9spd M952 Mech to an 8spd M950 Cassette with no issues, other than showing up I needed a new chain, as mine was stretched
