So I got these used brakes few months ago, when I first installed them it was awsome, great modulation and stopping power with no sound. Then the front brake started to squeal and I tried these things:
1. toe in the pads
2. changing the pads
3. relacing the wheel with brand new rim
4. switching to rigid fork
5. buying complete new set of wheels
6. switching pads placement; front on rear and rear on front
7. switching brake plaement; front on rear and rear on front
8. in desparation - got new tires
and the result was always the same: front brake squeals, rear does not!
I read somewhere about shimano XT 739 paralellogram brakes getting lose and needing the tune up kit, so I tried that with my brakes too and in lack of proper shims I took 0,5mm shim and thined it with file to a proper size, now there is no horizontal movement in brake but the sound of stopping train is still there…
is there really no cure for these?
btw. I attached picture showing where I placed the shims.
sorry for my english and thank you in advance
Darko.
