Deore XT V-Brake wobbling

Hello everyone,

A few months ago, I installed new (to me) Shimano Deore XT V-Brakes (of course, I forgot the reference) on my bike. For a little while now, I've been experiencing some odd sensations while braking. While fixing a flat tire today, I noticed the caliper wobbling when I put the wheel back on...

I'm having the same problem with the front:

Whether it's XT or not, it doesn't matter, it's the parallelogram that's moving. I don't see any part to tighten to stop the movement...Is there disassembly involved, an adjustment to be made, maybe a refurbishment kit to get, or is it just done for?

Thank you.

They all do that sir …..

It’s hard to get a pair that doesn’t. I’ve seen people rebuild them but I never have cared so much.

Even my NOS ones have a bit of wobble.

Solutions are tiewraps to pull them together, some elastic band style solutions etc.
Or like me take them apart and some thin shims helps a lot.

There are take apart post on here, maybe the wiki and some shim or holder part instructions in the Archive.

No doubt someone has created a Tiktok YouTube video for a bit of extra cash by now.

Not easy to search an type at the moment but if needed can do next week.

You can use XTR M950 instructions for ideas and ignore the bearing parts.
