I guess people feel they are probably still a bit pricey sans-hoods and with the minor damage to the LH unit, after paying shipping and duty to import to UK anyway. Your price is probably nearly right for fellow retro-bikers in Europe though with cheaper shipping options. You also haven't said how they function as I know the L/H shifter's have a habit of gumming up with 20 year old lube in there and not changing very well (I have the XT version doing exactly that at the moment with lazy front shifts, its very annoying but could probably be cleaned and re-lubed)
