Shimano FC-MC12

Shimano FC-MC12 cranks, I know were subject to a Shimano recall for a fault they identified in production, a fault which could cause serious injury if they broke in use;

Now has anyone experienced or know of these cranks breaking or are they just like other 10 year old history unknown cranks when ridden hard ?

If they were subject to recall and I believe Shimano will still honour it, how common are these cranks on the cycling scene ?

I also have noticed them on ebay from time to time, what is to all intents and purposes according to Shimano ; dangerous cranks.
