I’m building an Alpinestars Al-Mega restomod and am obviously slightly updating the drivetrain...

...The frame uses an endless band or ‘braze on front mech and I currently have an M-735 for it, however the rest of the group is going to be M-739...Does anyone know whether Shimano produced a 739 EB front mech? And if not what is the best upgrade to go with?

Cheers

J

It's not actually a braze-on in the sense of a normal style one for a braze on mount mech.
Alternatives are to make a braze on adaptor and use the braze-on mount M739.

Or try an e-type mount, which may also need an adaptor to make it stable..

Or
Use the new fangled Top-Swing style as the clamp will be lower and away from the bend?

I've never tried.

an e type has a bolt hole (at least for M739) where the mech top part bolts to the lower bb band. to stop it rotating. Was thinking someone may weld parts to the frame for direct mount or similar.

The Braze on will actually have been the M738 as that the normal swing 'traditional' style one and also came as a braze on mount (roadie style) so a mount could be welded to the frame etc...

That's probably what I was thinking
