does anyone have the gear lever boss that mounts directly over the gear lever braze on for a shimano left hand gear lever? i'm fitting a triple chainset and the boss that's fitted just now makes the left hand lever sit back towards the rider at an angle, therefore limiting the range i have to pull down on it to throw the front mech up on to the big ring. i'd like the older style one that allowed the left gear lever to sit right forward the same as the right lever does when you've got it in bottom gear.

Re:

I might be wrong, but I think it's the lever rather than the boss that determines how far back the lever will go. They were designed to sit slightly forward of the DT to enable easy shifting with your right hand.

Re:

this is what i can't remember - i do remember that the earlier versions sat forward ie both levers sat parallel to one another. i'll pull the left lever off and have a proper look at it.

IIRC the aluminium spacer provides the offset. I once fitted one 180 degrees out (to try and get both levers parallel) there's no end stop then, so the lever will go towards until it catches on the tyre. Oops.
There should be masses of spare range to get a triple on there, full stroke on a double only leaves the lever about vertical.
