Shimano Cleats

Do all Shimano pedals take the same cleats or have they changed over the years?

My shoes and pedals are what I would call the original cleat. If I get pedals for my other bike is there a cut off year I need to buy before?

I have just been given some new LX SPD's, and my old cleats work in them, but are a bit wobbly as the old cleats are obviously a bit worn.

As I have 2 pairs of SPD shoes I'm going to run new cleats - new pedals, and old cleats - old pedals, so everything wears evenly.

I would suggest that you do the same; new pedals, new cleats.

since the 747 pedal most shimano pedals accept SH51 cleat (aside from the 858)

I have some 858 which I think take the SH55 (? correct me on this) cleats - they're the multirelease cleats. They have a wider 'tail'. If you buy these cleats (which can be tricky to get hold of), they are backwards compatible though on all the other SPD's.

OK, I went and looked, I have M515 pedals and SH51 cleats. They have both done less than 100 miles.

So these cleat will work with M520 pedals?
