I've always wondered what makes a chain shift better than another...................anybody?
In regards to how long they last and cost, i've learnt that it makes no odds. I change my chain every 10-12 weeks in the winter and a bit less in dry conditions. This equates to about 1000ish miles for me. Most chains will last about 1200 miles. If i don't do this then the chain causes premature wear to the cassette and chainrings.
It's cheaper to replace a chain than everything else, plus on our retro steeds we can't just go out and buy a new 90's chainset!! I always plump for cheap chains and run them on xtr kit and never get any shifting issues.
