Shimano AX rear derailleur - should it have bearings ?

With Summer approaching I am looking forward to using the Raleigh Road Ace I acquired over the winter in some local events so I decided to check it over last night.

The drive train felt stiff so I checked the BB and crank and they seemed OK and the chain is free moving and well lubed so I finished up checking the rear mech.

Should the jockey wheel at the top have some kind of bearing in it ? Whilst mine looks OK from the outside the jockey wheel appears to be a press fit onto an alloy cap with no kind of bearings at all. Is this correct ?

Some of them didn't have ball bearings in and were just a bush like that. You can get replacements with proper ball bearings in, though. eBay shop or SJS Cycles is probably your best bet.

Re:

The bushings are easy to take apart, clean, and put back together, especially if they're as little used as that bike looks!

Any more pics of it anywhere? Looks very nice!
