Works like sh## (probably why is for sale now) but is soooooooo cool !

Never seen one of these before. When do they date from? Is there a front mech included with the system or is it rear only?

I'm pretty sure it was mainly a DH thing, hence only the rear mech. Makes a cool psssshhhh noise at it changes apparently

i want it so badly even though they dont work ie shifting is uncertain so cool jez leave this alone no snipy snipy i want it :D   8)

I used to have that on a bike, I also had the opportunity to test ride the proto GT LTS that was built around such system (Bradley Mc Gee also had a Gitane Time Trial bike built for it, he unfortunatelly never used).

It works fine as long as you're the lucky winner of the "central valve" lottery.

I mean, this central valve either leaks air like a cow eating fresh green grass or remains quiet like a good Japanese geisha.

When it works, it's really cool, it shifts like your system is electrically driven. But after 400 shifts, forget it, back to the pit for a good pump session.

The system itself is a real tech beauty, was hand produced one by one in a special dust free zone of the Sakai factory. Actually 2500 pieces were produced beg 2000, but only 800 were sold worldwide, the rest got destroyed.

From memory I've got set number 519....

There are still quite a few boxed sets about if you look hard enough for one, the guy i got mine off had a few sets still.

They actually perform really nicely and look good on a period 99-00 DH build.

Must be a rich guy, back in old times it was retailing 1500 €. Or SAUS dropped their leftover stock at your bargainer...

You could run the Browning Electrical (sp?) on the front.

No you couldn't.

The cage is too short. Only accepts single chainring cranksets.

You can always adjust this restriction, however, forcing the mech was sort of bargain on its life expectancy so at the end... 7 gears, not one more ! :(
