Shimano 600 EX seatpost 27.2

It was out in mid 80's? Pretty rare beast to find. It has the straight 600 logo on it and is the first non aero 600 post, or first after the AX model. Same as the Dura Ace EX, just a fraction heavier.
Haven't seen one for a long while but will keep my eyes open for you.

That's the one, basically just a round 600 post. I am pretty sure it was one of those that was offered to me NOS back when I put my Merckx together when it was new. I was after a 600 seatpost but I wanted the slightly later Ultegra one that is the more aero shape, still prefer it.
I had some of the AX brakes a while back and when I was selling them there was a few people that wanted them to complete a group set and one of those had an EX that he was looking to swap. Otherwise I don't remember seeing them about, but to be honest, unless it's pointed out or it looks unusual I probably wouldn't notice

I've done a bit more digging on this just out of curiosity but I've nothing much to add
I can say the 600EX groupset, as sold, did not include a stem or a seatpost. Here's a photo of a boxed set
