Shimano 1056 and Peugeot Aubisque Racer

I have recently acquired a new road bike, a 1990s Rourke, as a replacement for my beloved Townsend that was written off in a crash last week. It has Shimano 105 1056 groupset, and I was wondering when this was first introduced as means of dating the bike.
Pics will be up once everything is sorted with the insurance company, and I have swapped some bits over (tyres were perished and the only ones I had knocking around were some vile yellow Vittorias, so need to get my nice Mavics from the townsend). It is currently a very visually interesting bike, not necessarily in a good way.
On an unrelated note, my mother had a Peugeot racer that she bought in 1982, but it was crashed in the 90s, and there are no photos etc. I was trying to find out about it, but haven't come up with anything. She says that it was a Peugeot Aubisque, with a mustardy yellowy frame and white bar tape. That is all the detail I have. (she is extremely mechanically minded). No groupset or anything distinctive to prompt a memory, but I was wondering if the name rang a bell, or if anyone has a photograph of one or experience riding/selling them.
Thanks!

Oooops, I was looking at the 1050 .... Note to self to buy an iPad and not a cheap Android tablet, plus should have gone to specsavers lol

Re:

1055 and 1056 were also called 105SC for "Sport Cycling" group. The problem is that 1056 was available until 9 speed 105 (5500) was introduced around 1998 or 1999. So the bike could be anywhere from 92-98.

Re:

I'll have to have a look at the BB next time I clean it. It'll be out for a ride on Saturday so I'll find out then.
Thanks for the dates of the groupsets. What was the difference between 1055 and 1056?
Any news on a Peugeot Aubisque? I am just intrigued to see if there is one knocking around anywhere, as my mother's description is far from satisfying my urge to have a good look.

I have a bunch of 1055 and 1056 parts. The differences I can see are: 1) As stated above 1055 is 7 speed and 1056 is 8 speed. But beyond that, the 1056 crank arms are slightly different - they are thicker and presumably stiffer; The 1056 bottom bracket uses a shorter spindle; the 1056 front derailleur has a slightly different shape with a different pull ratio to work with STI as the STI will not work well with a 1055 FD (1056 8 speed down tube shifters do work fine as that is what I do); 3) The rear derailleur looks slightly different but I do not see any actual mechanical difference so I believe you can run 7 or 8 speed on either one; Brakes look the same.
