Shill Bidding on eBay

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has setup a blacklist of eBay sellers who repeatedly bid on their own items to push up the final sale price? I've just won two items on there from someone local - it now appears that I was involved in a bidding war with him on his own items....

He had over 100 items for sale at one point tonight. So far there is an eBayer ID with a rating of (2) who has 100% bidding activity with this seller over the last 30 days - they have bid on 84 separate items a total of 147 times!!!!

I'm extremely narked - I have contacted him and intimated I have a pretty good idea what is going on - he was happy to reply earlier with answers to my previous questions, now he has ceased to communicate.

Anyone else experienced this? What should I do? I'm clearly not planning on paying the inflated prices...

Another good reason to snipe instead of doing regular bids. I've had something similar once, where I suspected the owner to see how far he could push up my bid.

Anyway, that's Ebay, just think about what's the maximum price you're willing to pay, put that in and don't bring in new bids unless you're bidding for something REALLY unique.

well as your the winner he will have your adress for postage reasons, but luckily ronnie and reggie are no longer with us so i wouldnt sweat to much, tell him to ( a ) cancel the transaction and relist ( b ) sell to you at your first bid and refund the difference, ( c ) open a non payer dispute with ebay, wich will leave him right open for you to report him for shill bidding. wich of course is a criminal offence and can be prosicuted through the courts, either way you do it your the buyer and ebay will side with you in any case, have a look at the link below. and keep an eye out for black jags and black commer vans in your review mirror, ronnie and reggie may be gone but peter kay still lives

Yes maybe being a little over-dramatic with my worrying...although I'll be curtain twitching for a good couple of weeks no doubt!!

Finally got a response from him. Apparently he isn't bidding on his own items. Someone is very keen to purchase his items of him in that case!!

I don't think it's txtspk - I think he simply has a very poor grasp of the English language!! (Also a very bad liar to boot.)

Report to ebay. I've done it and had a couple of people booted off or suspended.

There was a guy who must have had 2 ebay accounts and he'd list about 5 bikes a week.
If they looked like they were going for peanuts he'd shill bid with his other account (you could tell it had same feedback amount).
He'd then relist all bikes within 10 mins of it ending for another week.
