Hi all, my 13 yo lads been showing some interest in MTBing lately he`s always had a bmx thing.
so i decided to put something together for him to test his interest. needed something x small 13" so hunting around i found a Giant rock for £20 frame and forks etc, so i stripped this down and junked everything except the frame and stripped and polished as he wanted it to look like my RSP200 raleigh.
i rebuilt as follows:
GIANT ROCK SE ALLUX FRAME (suprising light 1.6kg)
MANITOU 1999 MAGNUM FORK
STX RC SHIFTERS,MECHS,CHAINSET.
UN52 BB
DEORE LX M570 VBRAKES
MAVIC X317 RIMS,STX RC HUBS
MICHELIN TYRES
After a couple of light rides he loves it,just needs to get used to gears and decent brakes.
and in my opinion this looks and rides better than the run of the mill decathlon type clone mtbs that most lads are riding.
