You asked a completely sensible question - and the rule is, when in doubt don't do it. But this time the risk really is very low - I'd worry more about people wanting to come to your house to see a bike. In fact, I'd always arrange to meet somewhere else, because some bike thieves look for garages full of bikes to target.
