Criteria is that they must be new, match, be silver (or other silvery-ish colour) and not carbon.

Where would you put your cash??

Thomson?
USE?
ControlTech?
Other??

Is nobody going to ask what the needed height , length or width is :? Or does a shiny finish matter more than the bikes handling ?

Oh ok :)
I like kores black shinyness :D ,plus i havent seen many of the version i have and quite like that too :D
On the technical side i prefer a longer stem and about a 5 degree rise
Im tall and have long arms

Function is always above form but, just for this question, is not so important..

I'm just wondering if people have a preference for a particular name/type when it comes to seatposts and stems and, since black seems quite dominant, wondered about non-black ;)

I really like the clean look of Thomson and USE (and Ringle, I think) seatposts.. not sure if I could afford them though..
Stem has to match too..

Only thing about Thomson is the pedestal it seems to be put on (in the same way that King headsets are).. not saying it's undeserved, the quality would appear to be all there.. it's just a bit boring at times..

USE stems are nice...at least the slightly older ones with the Ti hardware.
For modern it has to be Thomson...the posts are great...fot me the stems are a little agricultural (apart from the road stems which are gorgeous).
As Perry says, a little boring, but default choice....CK headset andThomson stem/post.
