I got a bit of problem with the seat post size, my local bike shop measure the the seat post size of my 1991 Kona Lavadome frame, and it was 26.8mm, last week I bought a new Kore seatpost with that size, tried to fit it in, it does fit but it's very tight and have to use force to get in, I only push it down less than half inch of the post in case I have to return it back to shop as I dont want to mark it, is there a way to make it easier to post to slide in better or should I look for a 26.6mm seat post?

I am a little stressed about this, any tips?

Guy, not sure if helps but my 94 Cindercone,s are both 26.6, This was the racelight Kona Double butted Chromoly frame tube.

Cheers

J

You shouldn't use that post. I suspect it needs a 26.6, but this is based on fallible memory and I can't be sure my 92 cinder Cone didn't use a 26.4. One other option is to buy a USE or equivalent and try various shims.

Thanks for the info, I guess the Kore seatpost will go back either ebay or here to sell it :( I have to look out for either 26.6 or 26.4 seat post, they seem pretty hard to find them in smaller sizes.

this is the purple Lava Dome isn't it? If so mine was same colour same year and 26.4

yes you are right, I think I go for 26.4 to be the safe side, just need to find one now in black andozed/satin finish.

is there much corrosion down there? tried some emery paper to clean it up?

Hi, I had the frame shot blasted all over the frame including in seat post tube, headset and bottom bracket, I think the seatpost is simply too big for the tube, I have to get a smaller one, I have put my finger in the seatpost tube and it's smooth.
