Can i use a shim for a 27.2 seatpost to get in a 31.6 seat tube i know it not ideal but i cant seem to find a bigger xtr m900 seatpost cheers

Cheers mate but i also wanted to know if its ok to do it is not to much of a leap 4.5 mm ie stress on seat tube frame shim etc probably didnt explain properly

As long as the shim is long, past the top tube seat stay join, and the seat post is too, it 'should' be ok.

I would prefer not to run a Shimano myself but some frames come this way so as long as you do it right....

Cheers ishaw can you explain why not run shimano and does that just apply to seapost
And any shimano seatpost xt dx etc thanks mate
