Search...what am I doing wrong?

Quite often when I want a new toy I use search to see what others think/have experience of etc

the problem I keep having is say I want to find..kona

many of the search results will not only throw up the posts re kona but also any post that a member has kona in thier signature

so today I look for kona and get..student riots in london???

Am I using the search not to it's best?

You need to narrow it down, searching for say 'Kona' will throw up hundreds of topics

Say you wanted to search for a Kona lavadome, enter 'kona and lavadome' in the search box, the and means it will only return posts that have 'Kona' and 'lavadome' in them

If you're looking to buy a kona, then narrow it down by only searching in the for sale section

Yeah I know you used Kona as an example

Thing is Retrobike's a large resource, so there will always be quite a few results for a search term, best thing I've found is narrowing it down by forum section and including 'and' between two search terms, eg Orange and Clockwork, XT and brakes, etc etc

Don't think that there's a way to eliminate signatures from the search, I didn't know it included those in the search parameters.

use the least useful but relevent word in your search
ie kona explosive , of that explosive is the one more relevant
and maybee in less use as kona will turn up everywhere
it can be a bit frustrating but by trying to think how posts
would be written helps things like "show us your kona "
and search in the main forum only
but sometimes it just throws up nothing and you know its there

also bear in mind most fowk are illiterate that post on here

have you made sure that you mark search for all terms as well?
