I don't think this proves anything apart from that the histories and peoples of Scotland, Wales and England are one and the same. And will remain so whatever the outcome of this vote.

The history the world is that of peaceful coexistence spreading as small tribes amalgamate to form larger ones. To reverse this natural process is going to be painful and will have many unintended consequences.

Its also bizarre to want to do this whilst the rest of Europe moves inextricably towards closer union and international law.

Sorry for this. I just like the chaotic nature of Scottish History and so fancied a bit of a rant.

If they're "one and the same" because they all went to war a lot then obviously the answer is a world government.

And it's a bit weird to talk about "peaceful coexistence" and tribes amalgamating. The only amalgamating that happens is when one tribe gets strong enough to wipe out another with violence, or by "civilizing" the "lesser" group into being just like them. Ever hear of the Welsh Not?

And then when you've finished slow-motion-genociding your way into an entire country having a near monoculture, then you get to have big sodding wars against countries with other monocultures. How peaceful.

Funny you mention the EU and international law: The EU is made up of supposedly equal countries, and they each get a say. In the UK, Scotland's votes only actually effect anything when the stars align, so it's no wonder they get shafted on public funds.

So there's a democratic deficit inherent in the system, the seat of power is somewhere else, and they're at the smelly end of your "peaceful amalgamating". No wonder they're trying to leave.

is it not bad enough now with the ngos from chatam house an the cfr
an there think tanks setting the agenda

i dont want to be in a comi eu or ruled by a global government

how would you like it if closer union and international law ment we had the age of sexual consent lowerd to 12 years old like other places
or cat an dog meat was sold on market stalls

the big agenda, which really is a huge agenda. It was mentioned by lots of folk back in the 40s, 50s, and even the 30s, they were going to bring this agenda in and run the world properly on behalf of the boys at the top who own the world, the real top bankers and so on, guys who lend to nations; a lot of nothings they lend, mind you, but they get paid back in real goods. It’s a great scam, this whole system, and everyone at the top knows it’s a scam but they go along with it because they’re well rewarded at the top. But they’re all crooked, of course; the whole money system is rigged and crooked and compound interest and all the rest of it, and it’s a complete joke. It’s amazing we can all take it so seriously, isn’t it, and end up being utterly poor as they bring in their big, big agenda where we’re more efficient at the bottom and we die off under Agenda 21 etc., with government agencies running your lives and bureaucrats and officials.

Good luck to scotland at least there prepared to challenge the status quo
the rest of the uk is happy to lay down lube up an get shafted

Re:

Why should we idly waste our prime
Repeating our oppressions?
Come rouse to arms! 'Tis now the time
To punish past transgressions.
'Tis said that Kings can do no wrong —
Their murderous deeds deny it,
And, since from us their power is sprung,
We have a right to try it.
Now each true patriot's song shall be: —
'Welcome Death or Libertie!'
Proud Priests and Bishops we'll translate
And canonize as Martyrs;
The guillotine on Peers shall wait;
And Knights shall hang in garters.
Those Despots long have trode us down,
And Judges are their engines:
Such wretched minions of a Crown
Demand the people's vengeance!
To-day 'tis theirs. To-morrow we
Shall don the Cap of Libertie!
The Golden Age we'll then revive:
Each man will be a brother;
In harmony we all shall live,
And share the earth together;
In Virtue train'd, enlighten'd Youth
Will love each fellow-creature;
And future years shall prove the truth
That Man is good by nature:
Then let us toast with three times three
The reign of Peace and Libertie!

I suppose you'll be saying next that John Lennon's "Imagine" is the answer to the world's problems.

Grow up. Life is unfair, and it's made so by people, people who want more power/wealth, whether in a capitalist/socialist/religious state. It will never change and we must all try to make the best of it.

A separate Scotland will still be run by politicians - i.e. liars who want to push their views on others, and will compromise their ideals to stay in power.

But it is their choice and they should decide what they think is right for them.

As Wolfie Smith used to say in Tooting - "Power to the people!", before he grew up and became a dentist in "My Family".

You're an utterly tedious bugger, you know that. I point out a few basic truths - truths so basic i'm a little dismayed they need pointing out - and the best you can do is accuse me of being a fan of a well known wife beater.

And then you come out with some Captain Obvious grade stuff that changes nothing. Scotland has politicians!!!! Wow. Jury is still out on if they have grass.

"It will never change and we must all try to make the best of it."

So nothing will change, but we've got to try and make it change, but when people try to make it change, that's bad, so they should stop, so nothing will change. Tool.

I was hoping this thread would last at least until the results come in!

Bats, perhaps you could edit your post to remove the personal attacks?

I am a little surprised at Bill Clinton getting involved in the way he has. I thought he knew better.

Well Al. Smillie and Kelly? Sounds like a night at a Premier Inn without the wife is in order!

While we are at it, shove JK Bloody Rolling Eyes in the trebuchet at Gretna!

Swap you JK Bloody Rolling Eyes for Smiley if you turn Balmoral into an animal rescue centre? It will make up for all the local wildlife Betty Windsor and her inbred family have murdered over the years?

ps can we keep Carol Kirkwood please?
