Schwinn team jersey?

Nothin-fancy

Old School Hero
I just picked up this jersey and it's long sleeved mate from the junk shop. I was never really a Schwinn fan and didn't understand why they were so popular in my neck of the woods. But I couldn't resist these. The Charlie tuna on the back is ridiculous and made me smile.

I know Schwinn was more of an American thing, so maybe this isn't the right place to ask this... Did Schwinn actually have a team back in the 90's and does anyone know what year this might be from?

I can't tell you the date, but I would guess mid to late 90s. In the mid 90s schwinn tried to save the company by developing mountain bikes. Their Moab was a good start, but things got really serious with the homegrown series. Some of those were made by yeti, just Schwinn badging

Thanks for the help. I saw that Overend raced Schwinn's early in his pro career. I didn't know that.

Those Schwinn's are pretty sweet. People want eye watering money for them on FleaBay. I get some where made by Yeti. But I mean, why not just get a real Yeti for a smidge more???

Scarcity, obscurity, weirdness, sentimental attachment to the brand (quite strong in the US) are all answers to that...
But to me, the strongest answer is BASSBOAT!! They spent a ton of money painting these things, so much sparkle flake it took several coats of clear coat with rounds of wet sanding to get it smooth. The "darting" scheme with checker decals was also a difficult application
