I didn't realise they made so many variants. I thought they were all alloy. If that bike and the blue one are CrMo that's some pretty impressive tube manipulation to get those stay shapes etc. Surely they're alloy?

edit...ooo there's a tange sticker on the blue one.

No, I meant the top one is alloy (just no Daytona) and the next one is CroMo indeed. The 500 series was CroMo, with component ranges from STX up to XT (I think the 508 was XT, the 506 LX and the 503 STX, IIRC). Then there was the 900 series, I only know the 908 was XT and the 909 was XTR. The 900 series was alloy (because I have one myself) and also the 800 series was alloy (alloy version of the 500 series, the Daytona was a 729 and earlier model than the above one I think).

You can tell if they're CroMo when they have a slimmer and ronded main tube, as you can see from the 503 piccie above. The S-Bike in the first pic has a wider square shaped main tube, that makes it an alloy one.

I've been a bit confused trying to work out what it is. It doesn't seem to be a Daytona as they seem to have a split rear end where it attaches to the main frame. But that main frame is obviously alloy rather than cro-mo.

800 series you say....

Of course - I've got to get the seller to reply to me to tell me how he wants paying.
