Not that easy to get your head around how it all works tbh.

I actually bid the same amount electronically but my bid had to exceed the £100. There is then 30.68% on top of that to pay as well.

Not the end of the world I suppose.
 
To be honest if it were near to me I don’t think I’d have gone more than that unless it had been for a keeper or had better drivetrain/wheelset. With commission and tax that’s about £150?

That’s good, at least it means it was a real bidder! I’ve known less scrupulous auctioneers take bids from the wall when someone has left a bid with them that’s higher than what they valued the guide price. I’ve had some real bargains but also been surprised when stuff has gone through the roof. There was a Klein road bike at my local auction last year that had a guide of £100 and went I think for over £600.
