Saracen TerraTrax - ideas?

I've been thinking about a new project and decided to re-do my Saracen as I love the frame. It's a '96-ish with quite low rent stuff but I feel the frame is worthy of far better equipment.
I plan to change the forks(Pace rigid?), gears, brakes and wheels. I was thinking Deore DX gears and brakes but would it be wrong to fit as it pre-dates the frame?
What about wheels?
