Hi all,
i must point out that i have already liaised with John on this.

Yesterday i recieved some bad news from a neighbour who worked with a fellow retro and Kona freak Space Monkey

Between Saturday 24th and thursday 29th Darren had taken his own life at his home here in Plymouth. :cry:

He had been off work and colleagues had tried making contact to no avail.
They attended his address..car outside..blinds shut..opened the letter box..the rest is history.

I got to know Darren quite by mistake..he was selling a Kona Hahanna..i saw this and was trying to convince a work buddy to buy it. I made contact with Darren through "Retrobike" and went to see the bike..we got on like a house on fire. We went for a few rides..he kindly help me build my explosif and rasta hot..a real perfectionist/fussy..worse than me..thats saying something :lol:

I would say i spent about 24 hours in "real time" in his company..listening to him speak..i could tell he was a "troubled soul"..i was very careful not to be to intrusive{ i am a trained interviewer}.. didnt want to offend..his family lived away and he did make reference to a previous relationship with his last girlfriend that didnt end well{his word}

I would text regulary..he would get back about 4 days later.. even my neighbour who worked with him for 10 years said he kept everybody at arms length. I did text him in January..but he never got back to me. We both worked shift and days and weeks do gel together.

I knew that whilst scouring ebay for bits i noticed his screen name popped up and saw that he was selling all his bikes and stuff..thought it was a bit strange..but people do do things like that{seen it on here}

So if anybody was expecting anything from him..i dont know if he had "put his affairs in order"

If anything is outstanding..i will try to help and also be sensitive as best as i can.

All in all he was a nice bloke..steady..and a pleasure to have known.

Ernie :cry:

bad news indeed. :(

been caught up in similar webs of this before and it is truely eye opening and makes you grateful for everything weve got.

rip dude

I'm sad to hear of anyone taking their own life. I don't like the idea of people suffering in silence. :cry: Very sad.

Thanks for posting that up Ernie. Sad news indeed, RIP Darren / Space Monkey.

This is terribly sad news.My thoughts are with his family and friends.I hope anyone here feeling down about this or things in general should try to make their feelings clear to others and maybe get some help or an ear to talk into.
I also suffer badly from depression and have the scars to prove it both mentally and physically.I have also been down this road but recovered due to intervention.

Sometimes things can look bleak enough that a final rest seems very much the order of things.Things do improve,although i doesnt happen overnight it can if you can accept things will change.Sometimes just the realising of improvement is all it takes to make the physical changes inside the brain.

It isnt easy to know what is going on in a friends subconscious and they do make attempts to hide their true feelings.One thing is you must not blame yourself for not txting ,phoning or visiting.It likely even on the day you wouldnt be aware of any problems,usually its quite the reverse when youve made up your mind.Therefore impossible to know or act and in that im am certain you would have jumped readily to this chaps side.
