9000 wasnt all bad, continuing SAABs borrow a bit here, change a bit there etc. At least they have outlasted their counterparts.

When did you last see any Themas, 165s, Chromas?

Next door but one has a 165 which rarely moves (eerily his previous car was a 900), good friend of mine has a Thema turbo which goes like a scalded cat... last saw that on Thursday.

Yeah, not seen a Croma in... a jolly long time indeed. I'd be surprised if they sold enough Cromas to recoup their investment.

My Mum had one on a C plate. All I remember is the turbo lag and then WHOOSH (usually as you were approaching a corner)!

All the ones with the weird cloth interior smell the same inside too.

The 9000 was the best sold of the tipo 4. A little over 500.000. The Croma were 2nd and the Thema also sold pretty well with circa 350.000 units. Around 9.000 being of the 8.32 model Around 270.000 were sold of the 164, but it was introduced several years later.

The 9000 is a typical 'they don't make them like this anymore' car. Clever engineering and ahead of its time in safety and engine concept. Because of its versatility I would still rate it over anything in its class to date.

My father has a 9000 Anniversary 2.3lpt. He bought it new on my adivise in 1997. Within a couple years I will buy it from him. You can buy very nice ones, Aero or Anniversary, for cheap.
