I asked if he can guarantee it is an S Works frame as it seems a bit sus with all the low end bits.

his reply...

Hi, According to Specialized Concept of Harrogate it an origal s works frame, I bought the frame from a chap in York and built it up myself you are right about the parts not as prebuilt, the frame is a 1993 model made in USA as told by Specialized of Harrogate I hope this helps you in what you are looking for I do not try to Deceive anybody as I am a Genuine Ebayer, Please read my feedbacks they speak for them selfs. Thanks Kevin.

i've decided against this (probably stupidly if it is a works) so thought i'd highlight it to you lot.

If it is a 93 though shouldn't it have a canti hanger?

I don't think the frame you have pictured is a 98 S-Works and it's nothing like the eBay frame. The eBay frame has no gusset on the down tube. It's possible that it's a 97 S-Works, or maybe earlier, but not 98.

got your (4!) pm's!

i really can't justify buying it - i'd end up stripping it and selling on. was really tempted last night but couldnt decide if it was a good deal or not. hopre someone gets it here though.

if anyone wants it collecting i am £25 in fuel to leeds and back

sorry Anthony, ever helpful as usual

the picture of the frame i got from here

http://forums.kilometermagazine.com/sho ... ntain-Bike

obviously the guy hasnt a clue,

didnt notice the gussett to tell you the truth, to me the decals on the ebay bike look to be original, as do the forks, that along with the bike pedia stuff led me to the conclusion that it was a 1998 bike

still dont think im wrong though

That red frame, pictured, IS a 98 S-Works. I have that frame. But, yes, it is not the same as the frame pictured in the ebay listing which looks to be the mango 97 frame.
