S-Works Steel project

S-Works is up and running!
Still a bit of fine-tuning to do - keen to swap out the old XTR pads for some new Kool-Stops, and I’d like to find a front mech in good condition that doesn’t need a shim.

Rides really nicely though - very happy with it.

Pretty much all XT 737. I did manage to score a lovely M900 titanium cassette for it.

Time to enjoy it... while I continue fiddling with it!

What a beautiful bike. Steel frame elegance.

How is the ride? Looks like a stretched riding position (as per the early/mid 90’s) - still comfortable?

Maybe a grey specialized saddle, the one designed by Potts which preceded the wtb sst. It's sought after and hard to find.
Good call. He mentioned the Flite was not quite right in shade of grey. Perhaps the Potts is more so what he is looking for (and would be content with). The Flite can be used on other projects; those are sweet saddles in their own measure looks and comfort.

Ohh that bike..
I was the bike sales manager @ Gregg’s in Seattle and Stone Gossard (Pearl Jam) came in and asked me what bike to buy and recommended the that same S-works ridgid stock bike. Rides so nice and personally would love to have that one in my garage.
Funny. I took a few runs at Crystal Mountain around 1993/1994 with Jeff Ament. He was pretty nice. I specifically remember how physically big his head was. Maybe they were branching out to new hobbies? Mountain biking, snowboarding and Eddie Vedder was going to Oahu to surf with Jack Johnson.
