S-bike build started, opinions wanted

Hiya there,

Uhm... so tonight Mr. Void Sr. has finished painting my S-bike frame. So I guess I can start building it up then :D Pics will follow when I get back home... I think rattle-can painting it really turned out well (of course with grounding and primer).

Now I have a dilemma for what fork to use. It's not really likely I'll be finding one of those original STM forks for it (or if anyone has one?). The bike came with a Rock Shox MAG-20 installed, with a 1.1/4" threaded headset. I also have another fork, a Manitou EFC (1.1/4" threadless). Now I dunno what fork to use... the bike is supposedly from 1993, so my MAG-20 would be more "period correct". But the EFC I have looks just about new, and the silver/red colors from this fork will fit the silver/red from the S-bike frame better I think. Only thing is, the EFC is from 1995 I think. Somehow this gives me a dilemma.

So what do you guys think? MAG-20 or EFC?? BTW: The MAG-20 is the fork in the picture below (the bike how I got it, before painting etc):

So, what do you guys think would be the best choice?

I reckon some Mountain Cycles 'Suspenders' would compliment the chunkiness of the frame. They were '93/'94 weren't they?

Well, just go to it to make some pictures of my choices....

Here's the one with the Manitou EFC:

And here's the one with the Rock Shox MAG-20 (that was in it):

So what do you guys think looks better? I don't have a clue in this. I would say the EFC, but somehow the (original?) Rock Shox looks more correct to me :?: :?

Nice project,

And I think it will look fabulous with a Girvin Vector in polished Aluminium.
The thin telescopic forks look unbalanced F/R, especially the RS. The rigid
version with slim steel rigid forks always look unbalanced to me as well.

Enjoy!

Mag 20. Keep it looking original.

Hehe, that's the way I'm thinking too... it looks more original to me somehow (and a bit more "1993" as well). Also my "non-bike-oriented" friend said "Go Rock Shox, not a doubt about it, don't like that other fork" :-)

So I guess I'll just go for the Rock Shox. Also saves me a bit of money, since I can use the headset I already had and the Syncros stem I already had.

THanx guys... maybe I'll find some other project for that EFC, or maybe I'll sellt it if it fetches a nice price :?: We,ll see...

Well, started the build last week... stole the wheels off my S-works (wanted other ones for that one anyway), also stole the cranks off it and had some NOS M737 brakes lying around.

Now to find the rest of a 737 grouppo, a seat/seatpost, tires and get some decals for it :-) On the other side... now my S-works M2 Team is another project again hehe ;-)

Hey !
Cool bike
Vouilloz was world champion ship with this bike for the first time in1992 !
Ok for the mag 21 and not manitou EFC !
What would be THE fork you need (but hard to find) : a STM upsidedown fork (or max concept)
