My brother (plus wife and three young kids) was coming back to Essex from Berlin (or whatever that airport 90 miles outside the city is called). After a two hour delay and then three hours circling in the air, they realised they werent getting home in a hurry, and they couldnt get any explanations from the cabin crew. Eventually the plane began to descend to Stansted, but before it touched down, the pilot booted up and they overflew. The pilot then came on intercom and stated that due to fog they were going to Luton (my brother said he could see his car in the carpark as they were that low, and the only fog was in his brain trying to figure out what was going on).

Eventually they landed at the new airport, the crew all legged it before the plane was emptied and they walked to the terminal building, where a big sign said Welcome to Birmingham.

Got to love an airline that lets you have a mystery tour thrown in for free !
