Devout Dirtbag
Hi All,
I am about to strip my new project down to a frame, as I have all my parts on order now, so just wanted to see if you guys out there had any experience or advice when it comes to dealing with small areas of surface rust where paint has been eroded by cable movement etc?
It's not bright orange, peeling, bubbling rust - it's just small discoloured metal chips and rub marks...
It's a splatter paint job (Explosif) , and actually most of the frame is pretty tidy, so I don't want to remove the original finish - it would be huge work; I think it would be overkill.
Basically the head tube has some cable rubs that have gone rusty - there's no paint bubbling or anything, so my thoughts are to somehow kill that surface rust and try to touch up the worst areas - it's gloss black,so I think that I should be able to get away with any cosmetic colour differences being less noticeable amongst the splatter paint scheme!
I had a look on amazon and can see that there are spot products out there, but has anyone tried this stuff on a bike?
Are there any tools or prducts fro cleaning back spot marks before paint is applied?
Thank you folks!
