Russells got a retro bike! Again.

Oooh, its been a while since I've had any cause to post in the pre '97 section. I've been without a retro bike for quite a while now, frankly having become quite jaded and cynical about the whole 'old bike' thing, choosing instead to sink my money into distinctly modern long travel carbon fibre hardtails.

I love my modern bike, its fast, comfortable, efficient and light yet reassuringly 'solid', but I did miss having an 'old bike' in the garage and decided to do something about it.

So, my first retrobike for nearly a year now?...

I've got a project for the next couple of months... Look out for my wanted ads!

First question... DX or M735?

Always had a soft spot for DX but I do think that XT is the way forwards. People are asking for silly money for M735 kit now though. I remember when could buy decent condition M900 front and rear mechs for £50 the pair, posted... paying that for XT grates a little.

both groupsets will do the job....ive a soft spot for dx as it was on my first bike but perhaps that deserves xt........
