Is anybody here running a Rond WP fork?

I used to have one on my old Lava Dome and loved it. It didn't have a lot of travel, but was certainly a step up from the Quadra 10 that I'd been running previously and it was very light.

I seem to remember Rond issued a recall at one point because a few had started to develop hairline cracks, but I decided not to return mine because I didn't have a replacement fork and it would take a few weeks before it was sent back to me.

They seem pretty rare these days, with very little information online.

I have a couple. The hairline cracks you're mentioning developed in the crown. They did a recall and the good crown are black anodized. The forks are lovely made piece. Machined all over. Performance is really good. You do not really notice the fork working, but it sure works for you. Service overhere, in Holland, was very good. Only not so good point about the forks was the pump that came with it and how to get air in the forks. This issue was of course history with the later Rebel that didn't use air. They did powdercoat it in red however, what isn't so nice. It makes the machined edges look less sharp.

That's right it was the crown, I remember now.

I still have the shock pump, a syringe with a pressure gauge attached, hardly ideal and I don't think it works anymore.

There we go, a slightly misleading gauge!

I've no idea why I've held on to this for around 12 years?!

Nick,

My pump has the same. I have been told it has to do with that our atmosphere is near 1 bar... If you ever decide to really through it away, please think of me.

That's a lovely looking fork, it's a shame they are so rare over here.

I will indeed think of you if I decide there is no chance of me ever getting another Rond fork.

Again you've nudged my memory and I remember the manual talking about the atmospheric pressure.

Superb forks. a lot less showy than the competitors but lovely smooth action. though the pump was utter bobbins. (i went through 3 in 2 years)

Nice too see the Rond name again 8)

I had the earlier version 'Elasto pro' (couldn't afford the air oil version) that i bought from Leisure Lakes in Daventry in about '94/95. I put it on my '93 hahanna & absolutely loved it even if the travel was so short :D

They were beautifully made & i used to strip & regrease the elastomers on quite a regular basis....i also think the crown on mine cracked & had it replaced under warranty but it was a silver one.

Strangely when my Manitou's cracked on my current steed i found a set of Rond (Magura) Quake air forks on Ebay locally which i got for £26 :D
They weigh next to nothing & work beautifully, i just need to find a pump Presta screw on adapter as the one on the pump i got with them has been snapped.
