Rohloff S-L-T-99 Chains

I my experience they are the longest lasting chain I have ever used; to be honest, the quality of the chains make all others look like childrens toys; KMC, Dura-Ace, Campagnolo Record; anything, it doesn't matter; the Rohloff is on another level.
I have just fitted one to my summer bike, replacing the last one which had done 17,500 miles/10 years and had just started to stretch. I have never had any other chain that has got anywhere near this lifespan. Unfortunately they are no longer made, but it doesn't matter, I have another spare chain so I should be OK for another twenty years!
Yeah lots of people report similar positive experiences with them. Perhaps I had a bad batch.
To clarify, they were nice and certainly lasted pretty well, just not particularly longer than the Wippermann or Sedis or whatever I was using before.
I might be a bit biased as one broke for no apparent reason, dumping me on the road in rush hour traffic. Seem to remember the missus broke one too, though can’t remember the circumstances. She wasn’t exactly powerful and our bikes were always well maintained…
Actually I recently bought a NIB 9 speed Rohloff on eBay. Wasn’t sure whether to use it or sell it on.. maybe I’ll give ’em another try

I bought one in the early 2000's and used it on a half dozen bikes. It never really measured much stretch even after all that. Eventually got shortened a bunch to use on various single speed things. I probably still have some barely usable short section of it left somewhere.
One of the few bike parts that was 100% reliable for me. That and the XTR headset on my IBOC that has never been taken apart the entire time I've owned it.

Plenty of chatter but has anyone offered a pin yet?

As they were meant to be peened with the Rohloff chain tool they did not come with a link or pin. Just one main pin half protruding out of the package. It's probably easiest to just splice in a few links from another chain. Like I said I have some spare short sections somewhere, but I'm in the US and it's like $25 for even a small flat envelope to ship.
