erm. SWEET!

there seems to be a lot of RM stuff knocking around at the minute... its a shame there are so many of us that are after it... and I always thought they were under-appreciated on here (unfortunately it turns out they are not)

Underground low key movement from those in the know.

Just not so in yer face full of it like Kona fanboys ;)

I think most people who like Konas also like Rocky Mountains, and vice versa. After all, they are very similar in their looks/geometry and in many other respects. However there are obviously far fewer Rocky Mountains over here as they were always so much more expensive to buy.

I think it's one of the ironies of an eBay-driven world that a bike like my old Equipe, which I believe cost its original owner £1,300 and eventually over £2,000 once it had been upgraded to Judy SLs etc, would struggle to make £200 on eBay now. So there are very few of them here because they were so expensive, and yet they're now so cheap that anybody can afford one.

In theory that ought to work its way through into higher auction prices, as many buyers chase few opportunities to buy, but I haven't observed that happening. It'll be interesting to see what this kit fetches.

youre probably right Anthony, although I have had two RM frames for much less than a Fire Mountain or Lava Dome frame seems to get on ebay - its odd.

I think the Kona fascination also comes back to the fact they were so prevelant in the 90's - when a lot of us couldnt afford a top spec bike - so now we can afford it then thats what we go for... and hence, as you implied, there are a lot of people after these frames and therefore teh prices are high (despite their being a lot of them available - relatively speaking)
