Quick question: Can someone tell me if this is a rocky Mountain Serial / Frame Number?

PL01C460? (? because I don't know the last digit)

Afraid not - It's a bike up for sale that's had a frame re-spray and new decals - rediculously cheap so was wondering if it's a duffer!

Number is taken from the bottom bracket!

I haven't got a retro Rocky at the moment, but my 2002 Element Team Sc has serial number 2002010319

Hmm perhaps a little dubious in its origin..... Unless Rocky Mtn have change their frame numbering.

What sort of age are you looking at for the frame 12yrs, 20years ?

It's not top end (mine starts RM and 4 numbers) and the lower end of mine starts I (Ishiwata iirc or something like that) and is a long number after it.

The code you give is more reminiscent of Marins style of numbering for their Alu frames.... but they wouldn't look like a Rocky then.

But then I've not seen many Rocky codes.

I've got a 1990 Rocky Mountain, and the frame number is 596, no letters.

2006 Blizzard - frame number starts with RMB...

I've got a 1993 Blizzard, but it's in Greece, so I can't check that.

I've not seen many either but my Cirrus is YA16884, this was quite a high end model back in the early 90's.

Their UK Distributor (don't know if they still are?) called Silverfish confirmed the date on mine with RM themselves

As Fluffychicken says, post some pix because a lot of their earlier frames are very distinctive.

doesn't really look that different to anything else, which is making me wonder.
